Employment help at The Lighthouse

For residents looking for work, The Lighthouse offers free resume writing help.

Staff helps anyone set up a good looking resume, a professional looking email address (at Gmail or another free service) and if they want, an online profile using the free service, About.me where in about 10 minutes, we can give them a profile that looks like these.  The other advantage of the email address and online profile is that it allows friends and family to find them as well, rebuilding the connections that are often lost while homeless.

Resume writing help is available Wednesday’s at 1:00 p.m. in the lounge. We’ll bring the laptop, printer, and paper. Clients bring their experience and what they want to do.  Once the resumes are done and the online profile is created, residents have access to help wanted sites like Kijiji, SaskatoonJobShop.com, and SaskJobs.  For their interview, they have access to our personal needs room which is full of free clothing to meet any of their clothing needs.

If you have a passion for helping people find employment and like to interact with people, we would love to have your help.  Just fill out our volunteer application form and we will get back to you.
