Olivia and Greg Yuel – Donor Story

Written By Anna Pacik

Olivia and Greg Yuel were early supporters of the Lighthouse Up Capital Campaign after visiting the Lighthouse.  Olivia volunteered with the Radiothon, while Greg showed a keen interest in getting to know the sustainability of the programming and services.  Their donation of $25,000 to help with the expansion of the homeless shelter, programming space and renovation of the supported living suites continues their commitment to philanthropy in Saskatoon. Their kind words and thoughtful gift are truly appreciated by everyone here at the Lighthouse.

While seeing the incredible work to the physical structure that the Lighthouse undertook in the past year we were equally amazed by the level of programming inside the facility for the residents.  We decided to donate because we were inspired by the treatment of the residents by the staff.  Residents are treated with respect, and likely treated better than they have ever been treated in their lives, by anyone.  The Lighthouse organization gives residents a sense that their lives could be better than what they may have imagined for themselves.  The services within the lighthouse seek to enable residents to attain a better life than the one available to them prior to coming to the Lighthouse.  And that is awesome.
