Fine Options Program

Lighthouse Fine Options Program

The Lighthouse Supported Living Inc. partners with the John Howard Society to provide an opportunity to work off fines through community service. Please follow the instructions on your traffic ticket to receive your Notice of Fine from the Court. 

Fine Option hours can be completed in any of the following areas:

  1. Kitchen (Food Services): assist with food prep, cleaning, dish washing, serving meals. Hour options are any time from 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM daily
  2. Janitorial Services: work alongside a Lighthouse janitorial staff member assisting with cleaning inside & outside of the building. Hours are available any time from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday
  3. Donations/Folding Laundry: sorting & folding Lighthouse clothing donations, restocking donation areas, folding laundry/bedding, assembling hygiene packs, etc. Hours can be completed any time from 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM.

Note: All fine option hours are done in staff areas working alongside Lighthouse staff members.

What you need to do:

***You are required to take your Notice of Fine to the John Howard Society to register before coming to or contacting The Lighthouse.***

After registering you will receive contact information for The Lighthouse. After that, The Lighthouse will receive a copy of your Participant Work Record indicating total hours to be completed and your expected completion date.

Shifts must be scheduled in advance by calling The Lighthouse Human Resource office at 306-986-4030 or email fineoptions@lighthousesaskatoon.org.

Please arrive to The Lighthouse front desk (main entrance on 20th St, between 2nd & 3rd Ave) when your shift begins. Street parking (paid) is available on 20th St and 2nd Ave. All parking behind The Lighthouse is for staff only. There are bus stops located at 3rd Ave and 20th Street, or on 19th Street and 2nd Avenue that are in close proximity to The Lighthouse.

Your hours will be recorded on your time log by the applicable manager/supervisor in your work area. Hours must be completed prior to the deadline indicated on your Participant Work Record.

Completed work records will be mailed back to John Howard Society by The Lighthouse.
